Katherine is a second year Clinical student at Boston College School of Social Work, concentrating in Health/ Mental Health. She has several years of volunteer experience working with Latino families and children. Next year, she will be interning at Boston Children’s Hospital on the Spanish Team and Primary Care Team. She is very excited about this unique opportunity to work in the prison system here in Santiago and to collaborate with students from the Pontifica University in Chile.
Elyse is a Clinical student at Boston College School of Social Work with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families. She studied finance in college and worked at a consulting firm in Washington D.C. before moving to Boston to work at the Cristo Rey Boston High School. During her first year at BC, she interned at the Boston Youth Sanctuary, an organization working with youth affected by trauma. She is excited about the opportunity to learn about the Chilean culture and to work with the mothers, children, and staff members on this innovative project.
Alissa is a second-year macro-level MSW student at Boston College. She currently works in Communications at World Education, an education non-profit headquartered in Boston, MA. She is involved in her community, volunteering as a Big Sister and as a counselor with the Boston Area Rape Crisis hotline. She has a particular interest in early childhood development, and is looking forward to studying the context of mother-child attachment in Chile.
Julia MacMahon is a Macro student at Boston College School of Social Work, concentrating in Children, Youth, and Families. She studied Juvenile Justice and Youth Advocacy at Wheelock College and has over a decade of experience developing programs and supports for high-risk youth. Through her work in Chile, Julia hopes to build her innovative problem-solving skills, learn about Chilean culture, and leave a lasting impact on the mothers and children at Centro Penitenciario San Joaquin.
